As we navigate through this journey we call "Life", we find that our sense of connection and belonging are the most profound and desired experiences. In moments of transition, such as the end-of-life, this need becomes even more vital. At Conscious Dying Collective, our team of leadership staff and faculty are exploring the meaning and impact of "community deathcare" and reimagining our curriculum in that context. It's time to return to the roots of community in deathcare, where every individual is supported by a network of love and shared humanity.

Community deathcare is more than just a service; it's a movement towards rekindling the bonds that unite us, and a movement of remembering the ancient ways. Traditionally, communities have come together to support one another through life's most challenging times. However, in our modern, fast-paced world, these practices have often been set aside. We are called to bring them back, fostering environments where people feel embraced, valued, and understood. By training End-of-Life Doulas and Conscious Dying Coaches, we aim to revive these cherished traditions and empower individuals to extend their compassionate touch to those in need.

When we emphasize the "community" in community deathcare, we create a space where everyone plays a role. Families, friends, and neighbors become an integral part of the care process, ensuring that no one faces the end-of-life alone. Our courses are designed not only to educate but also to inspire a collective spirit of care and support.

Grace & Grief Vigils

Meet Katie Cosgrove!

Katie is a Certified Trauma Support Specialist, grief coach and death doula. As the founder of Grief Is Good, she makes it her mission to help people approach transition and grief in a beautiful and meaningful way through speaking, writing and coaching. She also volunteers in end-of-life photography with a nonprofit, GodWinks Inc., to provide solace to those losing loved ones. 

Katie's passion is to give people the resources she didn't have when she was younger. After experiencing a loss at every age from 12-21, she didn't know how to confront her grief or deal with/talk about death and dying. Now, Katie is helping others so that they don't have to struggle with their grief for a decade like she did.

Her work in the end-of-life realm includes an upcoming nonfiction book called "Good Grief: 9 Hacks to Learn to Live With and Love Your Grief" aimed at helping those who are struggling to find meaning and purpose after a loss. Her book does not aim to "fix" or eradicate grief, but to help people find a more positive relationship with it. In addition to her upcoming book, Katie has written and published "I'll See You in Your Dreams Tonight" for parents/kids. It offers families a space to discuss death and grief in a loving and compassionate way—and supports children through big emotions by showing them that remembrance and storytelling can keep their relationships with lost loved ones alive.
